Increasing numbers of people of all ages are suffering from asthma. Your doctor will make the initial diagnosis and explain your treatment. Our specially trained practice nurses will the ensure that the treatment is effective by checking inhaler techniques and measuring lung function regularly, referring to your doctor if necessary. Patients with cancer are cared for in association with the hospital specialists, the Outreach Team and the Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice. Cervical smears for women involve a simple quick test to check for changes which occur before cancer develops. We recommend that all women should have regular smear tests every three years or more often if required for medical reasons. All patients who are eligible for the test are sent for by letter.
If you think that you are due a test and have not heard from us, please contact us and let us know. Practice Nurses carry out the test in the surgery. Patients with COPD are advised to have a check up at least annually to make sure they get the best treatment or their breathing problems. Patients with a history of heart disease need to be monitored on at least an annual basis to ensure their risk factors are minimised and treatment optimal. Diabetic review is done by our Practice nurse for the care of all diabetics. Patients are reviewed on a recall system and are invited to attend annually.
Dr Roy oversees the care management of all our Diabetic patients. We monitor blood and urine testing, diet, weight, blood pressure, medication, foot care and education. We also monitor kidney function and cholesterol levels regularly. Patients with epilepsy should have a check up in the surgery and/or in hospital outpatients to ensure the control of their condition is optimal. Crook Log Practice Patient Support Group runs four regular exercise classes per week at a local Church Hall.
